Pre-season promise becomes a competitive statement for Ade
When Ade Owolana joined Sue’s Angels during the summer, it did not take long for his quality to become apparent.
Throughout pre-season, Ade displayed confidence in possession, intelligent movement and the ability to influence matches from attacking midfield.
The early signs were promising. The beginning of the competitive season presented the real test.
Against Haydons Park, that promise became a statement.
Ade scored three times in the Angels’ 8–1 victory and was named Player of the Match following his most influential performance since joining the club.
What made the performance particularly impressive was the variety displayed across his three finishes.
His opening goal came on his favoured left foot. His second was confidently dispatched with his right. His third arrived during the final attack of the match, when he maintained the energy and determination to join one last counterattack.
It was not only the goals that defined his afternoon.
Ade repeatedly found space between the Haydons Park midfield and defence. His positioning gave the Angels another option when constructing attacks, while his composure helped turn promising moves into goals.
His relationship with Dunkley was particularly productive. Charlie created Ade’s opening two goals, and their movement repeatedly pulled the opposition defence out of position.

The hat-trick also showed how quickly Ade has adapted to his new surroundings.
Last season’s Sue’s Angels team was built on established partnerships and a strong collective identity. The challenge for the summer arrivals was to enter that environment and contribute without disturbing what had already been created.
Ade has brought his own qualities while complementing the players around him.
A strong pre-season demonstrated what might be possible.
Three competitive goals and a Player of the Match award provided the first major confirmation.
For Ade Owolana, this may only be the beginning.
